Athens High School is a tundra. Coming outside from the hot air, it is nice to cool off a moment. But freezing all day in chairs that completely absorb every ounce of cold air? No, thank you.

Matrix places first in newspaper contest

The staff of Matrix was very pleased to learn on Friday that the American Scholastic Press Association awarded them first place in the 2011-’12 Newspaper Review and Contest. This was Matrix’s first time competing in this contest.
Matrix once frequently entered such competitions, but stopped competing for several years.
Annual physics field trip canceled due to scheduling

Physics students at Athens High School are facing a change of pace with the cancellation of the annual field trip to King’s Island. The trip has been an AHS tradition since 1983. While many students grieve the change, alternative activities are being planned and physics fun will still live on. According to Athens High Physics teacher Tom Stork, this year the trip was canceled because of scheduling difficulties.
