I’m writing this piece on Monday, March 12, 2012. I woke up today exhausted; an inconvenient daylight savings took place yesterday, and at 6:30 a.m. it was cold and dark and rainy. I went to school, took a French test, then freaked out with my classmates about how hard that test was and how much I needed a good grade.

Athens High speaks out: Healthy foods are not wanted
by Lauren_Pach • • 0 Comments
From Jan. 3 to Jan. 16 a salad of dark, leafy greens was offered to Athens High School Students. The salad was an experiment; the School Board wanted to know if students would actually buy healthy lunches. To my dismay, the “experiment” failed due to lack of support. Athens High students are offered tater tots, nachos, pizza, hamburgers, chicken sandwiches and iceberg lettuce salads daily for lunch. If that doesn’t raise eyebrows, I don’t know what will.

Senate Bill 5 caused our teachers, our parents and our friends to head out to the streets to protest, to voice their opinions at a town hall meeting, to debate on Facebook and to bombard our State Senator Jimmy Stewart with emails, letters, phone calls and texts.

Administration, give back our phones

By Matrix Staff – Issue 2, Opinion – Administration, you seem to be in a very bad mood this year. You began it by telling us that if we students were frequently absent our grades would decrease. You’re planning to post our grades online. Now you say we can’t even go to the restroom without first surrendering our phones to our teachers.
